Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana & Rahu Kaal for New Delhi
What is Panchang?+
Panchang(literally "five limbs") is the traditional Hindu calendar and almanac. It consists of five elements: Tithi (lunar day), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (luni-solar combination), Karana (half of tithi), and Vara (weekday). It is used daily to determine auspicious timings for rituals, ceremonies, and important activities.
The Tithiis calculated from the angular distance between the Sun and Moon. Each 12 degrees of separation equals one tithi, giving 30 tithis in a lunar month — 15 in the waxing phase (Shukla Paksha) and 15 in the waning phase (Krishna Paksha).
Checking the daily panchang is an integral part of Hindu tradition. It helps in selecting muhurtas (auspicious moments) for starting new ventures, performing puja, fasting on specific tithis like Ekadashi, and understanding the planetary influences of the day.

Shree Shree Govindajee Temple in the precincts of the royal palace, built in 1846 by Maharaja Nara Singh and rebuilt in 1876, is Manipur's premier Vaishnava shrine, housing Krishna-Radha, Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra under twin gold-plated domes. Three Ras Lilas performed here on full-moon nights in spring and autumn are a defining cultural event of Imphal. Yaoshang, Manipur's five-day Holi across the Meitei lunar calendar, draws the entire valley, and Kang, the Rath Yatra, sees a grand chariot procession each July. Panchang, choghadiya, and rahu kaal timings are computed for Imphal's exact coordinates.

Five Elements of Imphal Panchang
The traditional Panchang (पंचांग, meaning “five limbs”) comprises five essential elements that determine auspiciousness for any activity in Imphal:
Tithi (तिथि)
Lunar day — the angular relationship between Sun and Moon. 30 Tithis per lunar month.
Nakshatra (नक्षत्र)
Lunar mansion — the constellation the Moon occupies. 27 Nakshatras in the lunar zodiac.
Yoga (योग)
Combination of Sun and Moon longitudes. 27 Yogas from Vishkambha to Vaidhriti.
Karana (करण)
Half-Tithi — there are 11 Karanas, cycling through 60 Karanas in a lunar month.
Vara (वार)
Day of the week, each ruled by a planet (Sun=Sunday through Saturn=Saturday).
Imphal Festivals & Panchang
Imphal's major festivals — Ras Lila, Yaoshang (Holi), Kang (Rath Yatra)— are calculated using the Hindu lunisolar calendar. Festival dates change each year because the lunar calendar drifts against the solar calendar. The Panchang above shows today's Tithi and Nakshatra. The Panchang for Imphal is calculated using Swiss Ephemeris with Imphal's exact coordinates (Manipur, latitude/longitude). Sunrise in Imphal ranges from 4:33 AM–5:55 AM seasonally, which affects the start of each Tithi. The Panchang shows today's Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, and planetary positions — all calibrated to Imphal's local time.
What is today's auspicious Muhurat in Imphal?
Auspicious muhurtas in Imphal depend on today's Tithi, Nakshatra, and Choghadiya periods. The Panchang above shows planetary positions and the current Tithi. For specific muhurtas (Vivah, Griha Pravesh, Vyapar, etc.), combine the Panchang data with the Choghadiya calculator — both are available for Imphal on this site.
Why are Imphal's Panchang timings different from other cities?
Panchang timings vary because they are based on actual astronomical observations for a specific location. Imphal's sunrise (4:33 AM–5:55 AM), longitude, and latitude determine the precise start and end times of Tithis, Nakshatras, and Yogas. A Imphal Panchang uses the city's actual coordinates rather than a single standard Indian time.
When is Ras Lila in Imphal in 2025–2026?
Ras Lila dates are determined by the Hindu lunisolar calendar and are the same across India, though local observance customs vary. The Panchang above shows today's Tithi and Nakshatra, which you can use to track approaching festivals. For annual festival calendars, the Ishvaram Jyotish app provides complete Indian festival almanacs with Imphal-specific timing where relevant.
