What is Panchang?+
Panchang(literally "five limbs") is the traditional Hindu calendar and almanac. It consists of five elements: Tithi (lunar day), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (luni-solar combination), Karana (half of tithi), and Vara (weekday). It is used daily to determine auspicious timings for rituals, ceremonies, and important activities.
The Tithiis calculated from the angular distance between the Sun and Moon. Each 12 degrees of separation equals one tithi, giving 30 tithis in a lunar month — 15 in the waxing phase (Shukla Paksha) and 15 in the waning phase (Krishna Paksha).
Checking the daily panchang is an integral part of Hindu tradition. It helps in selecting muhurtas (auspicious moments) for starting new ventures, performing puja, fasting on specific tithis like Ekadashi, and understanding the planetary influences of the day.

Hyderabad, the City of Pearls. Birla Mandir, Chilkur Balaji Temple (Visa Balaji), and Keesaragutta Temple are major pilgrimage sites. Bonalu (Goddess worship), Bathukamma (floral festival), and Ugadi mark the Hyderabad calendar. Choghadiya is routinely consulted for business launches in Hyderabad's growing IT and pharmaceutical sectors.
Hyderabad's solar year — sunrise, sunset and day length
In Hyderabad the longest day runs 13h 02m (June) and the shortest 10h 58m (December) — a seasonal swing of 2h 04m. Solar noon falls +16m from the 12:00 clock hour because Hyderabad sits at 78.49°E rather than on the 82.5°E IST meridian. Every Tithi, Nakshatra and Rahu Kaal window on this page is derived from that sunrise, not from a national average.

Which places near Hyderabad can read these Panchang timings
Gaddi Annaram lies 5 km south-east of Hyderabad and sees sunrise −1m to 0m against it, so the sunrise row of this Panchang moves by that much there. Across every place listed below the shift runs −1m to +1m and each of the eight daylight periods keeps the same length it has here, so the periods do not stretch — only the boundary moves.

Five Elements of Hyderabad Panchang
The traditional Panchang (पंचांग, meaning “five limbs”) comprises five essential elements that determine auspiciousness for any activity in Hyderabad:
Tithi (तिथि)
Lunar day — the angular relationship between Sun and Moon. 30 Tithis per lunar month.
Nakshatra (नक्षत्र)
Lunar mansion — the constellation the Moon occupies. 27 Nakshatras in the lunar zodiac.
Yoga (योग)
Combination of Sun and Moon longitudes. 27 Yogas from Vishkambha to Vaidhriti.
Karana (करण)
Half-Tithi — there are 11 Karanas, cycling through 60 Karanas in a lunar month.
Vara (वार)
Day of the week, each ruled by a planet (Sun=Sunday through Saturn=Saturday).
Hyderabad Festivals & Panchang
Hyderabad's major festivals — Bonalu, Bathukamma, Ugadi— are calculated using the Hindu lunisolar calendar. Festival dates change each year because the lunar calendar drifts against the solar calendar. The Panchang above shows today's Tithi and Nakshatra. For complete annual festival almanacs with specific timings for Hyderabad, use the Ishvaram Jyotish app.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is today's Panchang calculated for Hyderabad?
The Panchang for Hyderabad is calculated using Swiss Ephemeris with Hyderabad's exact coordinates (Telangana, latitude/longitude). Sunrise in Hyderabad ranges from 5:45–6:53 AM seasonally, which affects the start of each Tithi. The Panchang shows today's Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, and planetary positions — all calibrated to Hyderabad's local time.
Can nearby towns like Gaddi Annaram use Hyderabad's Panchang timings?
Almost, with a small shift. Gaddi Annaram lies 5 km south-east of Hyderabad and sees sunrise −1m to 0m against it, so the sunrise row of this Panchang moves by that much there. Across the recorded places within 150 km of Hyderabad that shift stays between −1m and +1m through the year — the nearby-place table above lists each one. For a town whose shift runs past a few minutes, compute with its own coordinates instead of copying Hyderabad's slot.
Why are Hyderabad's Panchang timings different from other cities?
Panchang timings vary because they are based on actual astronomical observations for a specific location. Hyderabad's sunrise (5:45–6:53 AM), longitude, and latitude determine the precise start and end times of Tithis, Nakshatras, and Yogas. A Hyderabad Panchang uses the city's actual coordinates rather than a single standard Indian time.
When is Bonalu in Hyderabad in 2025–2026?
Bonalu dates are determined by the Hindu lunisolar calendar and are the same across India, though local observance customs vary. The Panchang above shows today's Tithi and Nakshatra, which you can use to track approaching festivals. For annual festival calendars, the Ishvaram Jyotish app provides complete Indian festival almanacs with Hyderabad-specific timing where relevant.
