नाग पंचमी (Nag Panchami) श्रावण मास में आने वाला एक पर्व है। इसकी तिथि ग्रेगोरियन कैलेंडर से नहीं, पंचांग की तिथि से तय होती है, इसलिए हर वर्ष अंग्रेज़ी तारीख बदलती है और पंचांग से ही निकाली जाती है। इस दिन कोई व्रत निर्धारित नहीं है। पर्व का स्वरूप और पूजा विधि हर वर्ष वही रहती है।

हर वर्ष यह पर्व श्रावण मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की Panchami तिथि को मनाया जाता है। चंद्र तिथि और ग्रेगोरियन कैलेंडर के अंतर के कारण अंग्रेज़ी तारीख़ हर वर्ष बदलती है।

इस पर्व के बारे में

नाग देवता की पूजा का श्रावण पर्व — नाग मंदिरों में दूध, हल्दी-रोली और अक्षत अर्पित किए जाते हैं, द्वार पर नाग-आकृति बनाई जाती है और सर्प-भय से रक्षा की प्रार्थना की जाती है।

The Sawan day of Nag Devta worship — devotees offer milk, haldi-roli, and rice at nag temples and anthills, draw nag figures beside the doorway, and pray for the household's protection from serpent-fear and Kaal Sarp Dosh.

महत्व

Honours the nagas — Shesha on whom Vishnu rests, Vasuki coiled around Shiva's neck, and Takshaka — as guardians of water, fields, and treasure. In Jyotish the day is the classic annual window for Kaal Sarp Dosh and Rahu-Ketu shanti: devotees with the dosh perform nag puja or visit tirthas like Trimbakeshwar. Farmers honour snakes as protectors of the monsoon crop from rodents; digging the earth and ploughing are traditionally paused for the day so no serpent home is disturbed.

पूजा विधि (कैसे मनाएँ)

Clean the entrance and draw or paste a nag figure with haldi, roli, or geru beside the door. Offer milk, kheer, roasted grain, and durva at a nag temple, shivling, or anthill — placing the bowl beside it, never forcing a live snake to drink. Recite the Nag Gayatri or the names of the ashta-nagas. Those with Kaal Sarp Dosh in the kundli may perform a simple Rahu-Ketu shanti japa today. Avoid digging, ploughing, and cutting greens for the day; feed brahmins or the needy in the nagas' name.
