Hanuman Jayanti (हनुमान जयंती) is a festival falling in the Hindu lunar month of चैत्र. Its position is fixed by tithi rather than by the Gregorian calendar, so the date moves every year and is computed from the panchang. No fast is prescribed for the day. The observance itself, and its puja vidhi, stay the same each year.

Hindu month: चैत्र
Panchang Basis (Tithi Rule)
Each year this observance falls on the Purnima tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Chaitra. Because lunar tithis drift against the Gregorian calendar, the English date shifts every year — the tithi rule above is what stays fixed.
About This Festival
The birth celebration of Hanuman ji — day-long Hanuman Chalisa recitations, sindoor and chola offerings, and temple processions mark the birth of the greatest Ram bhakt.
हनुमान जी का जन्मोत्सव — हनुमान चालीसा पाठ, सिंदूर व चोला अर्पण और मंदिरों में विशेष पूजा के साथ बजरंगबली की आराधना का दिन।
Significance
Honours Hanuman as the embodiment of strength, seva, and fearless devotion. In Jyotish practice he is the primary refuge from Shani and Mangal afflictions — those in Sade Sati, a Shani mahadasha, or with Mangal Dosh are traditionally advised Hanuman Chalisa on this day as the strongest freely available upay. His janma at sunrise makes the early morning the key puja window in most North Indian temples, and wrestlers, soldiers, and students alike seek his blessing for bal (strength) and buddhi (clear mind) together.
Puja Vidhi (How to Observe)
Bathe at dawn and visit a Hanuman mandir, or set his image facing south-west at home. Offer sindoor mixed with chameli oil — the chola — along with a garland, boondi or besan laddoo, and paan. Light a diya of chameli oil. Recite the Hanuman Chalisa (many devotees complete 11 or 108 paths through the day), the Bajrang Baan, or Sundara Kanda. Observing brahmacharya and avoiding tamasik food for the day is customary. Distribute the laddoo prasad after evening aarti.
