The first day of the winter 'secret' Navratri of Magha — nine nights of discreet Devi sadhana, kept mainly by tantra and mantra practitioners, with Ghatasthapana and the worship of the Das Mahavidyas.

Significance
One of the two Gupt (hidden) Navratris of the year — the other falls in the Ashadha month — alongside the two public Navratris of Chaitra and Sharad. While the public Navratris celebrate the Navadurga, the Gupt Navratris are dedicated to the ten Mahavidyas — Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshwari, Chhinnamasta, Tripura Bhairavi, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi, and Kamala.
